- Tanakh (Hebrew Bible): Comprising the Torah (Law), Nevi'im (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings).
- Talmud: Rabbinic discussions on Jewish law, ethics, customs, and history.
Hinduism
- Vedas: The oldest and most authoritative scriptures of Hinduism.
- Upanishads: Philosophical texts that explore the concepts found in the Vedas.
- Bhagavad Gita: A 700-verse scripture that is part of the Indian epic Mahabharata.
- Ramayana & Mahabharata: Ancient Indian epics that narrate the historical and moralistic stories of the divine.
Buddhism
- Tripitaka (Pali Canon): Traditional term for the Buddhist scriptures.
- Mahayana Sutras: Central texts for the Mahayana Buddhist tradition.
- Jataka Tales: Stories about the previous lives of the Buddha.
Sikhism
- Guru Granth Sahib: Central religious scripture of Sikhism, regarded by Sikhs as the final, sovereign, and eternal living Guru.
Taoism
- Tao Te Ching: Fundamental scripture for Taoism, attributed to Laozi.
- Zhuangzi: An ancient Chinese text from the late Warring States period which contains stories and anecdotes that exemplify the carefree nature of the ideal Daoist sage.
